KÄR LEK is wool rug created like a colour journal. This is my fist rug trial. The elements which I wanted to include was; free play with colours, composition, and plain structures.
I made a few watercolour sketches in order to find my colours and feel for the composition. I wanted a subtle flow of shifting neutrals and strong colour spots. I did not want the rya to be too expressive, and need something to balance it out. I created a structure binding that could be used as a border around. As I started weaving the rya i got a feeling for witch colour should be my base colour and just along the way i improvised with new colour combinations to create my spots and composition of the rya-piece. In each end I made a oriental border and a 4-strand braid which altered sideways. Material: Linen warp 8/5. Mix of wool and linen yarn I the weft. Size: 65x197 cm |
